Brown with walnut shells

To get brown shades on wool I use the green shells of walnuts at the moment they fall from the trees. You get very nice shades using the folowing recipe:

You need about 2 kg fresh green shells for 400 g wool.
  1.lot: heat the wool in enouhg water together with the shells up to 40 degree celsius. keep the temperature for one hour, then remove the wool.
  2. lot: 300 g wool in the same dye-bath up to 80 Celsius degrees, remove after 1 hour
  3. lot: 300 g wool in the same dye bath, cook slightly for 1 hour
  4. lot: 200 g wool in the same dye bath, cook slightly.

Brauntöne

You get 4 shades from brown to beige.
